So then. A new site. Hello. Come in. Have a browse. Don’t mind the cat. All the old Vanilla Days content is here. Everything from the start back in 2004. The content from my personal blog is here. It’s all the toys under one roof, as the talking giraffe might say.

Why a new site? Well I felt like it needed to be a fresh start. Vanilla Days was great. I started it in 2004 as a daily photo blog but it’s 10 years later, that’s 2014, and there is Instagram. The daily photo blog may have had its day as everyone does it now. So I want to move on from there. Rebrand. Refocus. Off we go.

I was silly to put this site on hiatus. It won awards year after year. It was listed as one of the top 10 photoblogs in the country. It took me places. I’m sorry that I walked away. It’s been too long but I think the break was needed. Sometimes you have to stand back from something to see what it is. I needed to miss it. I missed it. Its back now and I’m overjoyed that its back.

Oh and the name. Over the water. It’s a phrase my nan used to say. We lived “over the water” on the Wirral. She lived “over the water” in Liverpool. It’s something that has stuck with me. I work over the water. I take the ferry over the water. I live over the water. I make photographs over the water.
