Tim Weare, RNLI member at the New Brighton RNLI station.

He’s married with 2 kids. I asked him how that is when he could be called away at any time of day to jump on a boat and save lives. He said they’re very understanding.

His boss is too. Something that never really occurred to me. These guys have jobs and lives outside of the RNLI. They need to go at a moments notice, not out of office hours or during lunch.

Tim has been in the RNLI for 7 years now. He likes being in the water.
Today is my 33rd birthday. In under 2 weeks I’ll be running the Liverpool Marathon for the RNLI. Due to my training I can’t afford to properly celebrate my birthday. Maybe 4 weeks ago I could due to the longer runs I was doing, but now I’m tapering. That means I’m doing small runs just to keep my legs in shape. I can’t treat myself to a slap up meal, a few ciders, or even a nice big milkshake. It’s days like this that make it harder than it should be. Must stay focused. I don’t know how people keep doing marathons. It really eats into your life. At this point I’d like to have mine back.
If you’d like to cheer me up on my birthday please donate via my Just Giving page. I’m currently at 75% of my target. I need to hit £1,000 in under 2 weeks. That’s about £250. If I don’t reach my target before I run the marathon I’m going to feel like I’ve failed. I’ll have to face that stupid distance of 26 miles feeling like a failure. I really can’t handle that. I need £250 in under 2 weeks to seriously help me do the run. Please donate what you can.
