Stunning exhibition by Jim Moir (Vic Reeves) of his bird paintings at the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight. All the paintings are of birds that Jim has been out to see in the real world. He paints from lived experience not photos from a Google search. That means treks around the country and early starts. It comes across in the work. There’s a life to birds in the details. In that vain, the work needs to be seen in the exhibition space. The light in the second room dims to reflect the fading light of dusk and the work there has been created to be seen in that light.
It was great to meet and photograph Jim and Nancy at the launch. The exhibition runs till November.
