The Register has an article on how disabled web access is ‘being ignored’following the DRC’s webcast this morning. Only 2 out of 1000 sites tested were AA compliant, not even AAA. Shocking. They ask that every site should at least be level A compliant, not only will it help disabled users but normal users will find your site easier to navigate. I myself try and get to AAA WCAG compliancy, don’t test this site though 😉 the CMS is tricky to hack. The most interesting thing from watching the broadcast was the demonstration of JAWS which basically spoke HTML on the CNN website. “TABLE, RADIO BUTTON….”, just what every blind person wants to hear.
I’m sure accessability will be the next big thing in Dreamweaver MX 2005. Better had be 😀
