Over the period of a year I was commissioned to document the redevelopment of the South End galleries at the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight.

I had a fascinating look behind the scenes at the spaces before they were rebuilt as galleries. I was tasked with recreating some of the original photography to show the contrast between what was there before, now and how it looked upon completion.

From the original photos the spaces were underused. The wonderful high ceilings had been replaced with lighting installations. In the redevelopment process these ceiling lights had been removed and the rooms opened up to match the original designs of the rest of the museum.

It’s a stunning space to walk around.
