It was the Chinese New Year yesterday. Kung hei fat choi. Liverpool was again completely packed out. This year I had some warning of times so I was able to position myself better, or so I thought. When they arrived at the square they all stood, flags included, in front of us. I was shooting through people for the most part. Thankfully I was using the Canon 100-400 so I could zoom through people. It was my first time using 2 bodies, and my first time since getting my 30D that I used my 10D. Its such a difference. The focus points are huge, the display is tiny and the shutter noise that used to be so satisfying isn’t anymore. It was tricky switching from camera to camera in the crowd, but ultimately it proved worthwhile. China town was heaving. It took ages to get anywhere but I was able to work myself to the front to get some shots. I put a lot of pressure on myself as I really loved last years shots ( 1, 2, 3 ). Looking through them now, I still love them but I do feel that I was able to better last years. I like recurring events as it helps to show me that I’m improving as a photographer.
