This is Linda Stalker. As you’ll have seen in the previous photo she was at the boat lake in New Brighton helping to clear the ice out. The swans had previously been frozen in the lake and had to be rescued by a digger from down the road. Linda isn’t a local to New Brighton and her family were only visiting for a panto. Her daughter saw the trapped swans and became really upset over the situation. They decided to make the journey back to help free the swans using spades to lift out the ice from the lake. It’s great to see people taking time out there lives to help birds, especially when they don’t even live here.
